Who is this guide for?

Anyone who needs to deliver product data in a specific Excel layout (retailer templates, internal reports, agency handoffs).

What you’ll need?

  • An Excel template (.xlsx) where data should land.

  • Access to Xyxle with permissions to create/edit Channels.

Step-by-step user guide

Prerequisites

  • You have PIM access and an Excel/CSV template (.xlsx, .xls, .csv).

  • Know the PIM attribute names (or plan to create them).

  • Placeholders use double curly braces, e.g. {{productTitle}}.

1) Decide the export mode

  • Single productExport detailed information about a single product. Ideal for reviewing or sharing data for a specific item.

  • List of productsExport data for multiple products at once. Perfect for bulk reporting, analysis, or updates.

TIP: You can download an excel sample from here:Excel_Export_Sample

2) Prepare the template — declare attribute placeholders

1. Open your Excel file and insert attribute placeholders wherever data should appear, using double curly braces:

Example header / cell usage:

2. Placeholders can be used in cells, headers, and tables—wherever you want the values to land.

  1. Save your template.

After upload, Xyxle automatically detects these placeholders and lists them under the Attributes tab.

3) Create the Excel Channel & upload the template

1. Create a new Channel, select Extra Platform and choose Excel.

2. Upload your Excel template.

3. Confirm that the detected placeholders are visible in the Attributes tab.

4) Add items to export (Static or Smart rules)

  • Static selection – Manually add items or pick from saved selections.

  • Smart rules – Define dynamic filters (e.g., by brand, status, category) so the channel stays up‑to‑date automatically.

5) Map Excel placeholders to Xyxle attributes

  1. Open the Mapping section.

  2. For each detected placeholder (left), choose the corresponding Xyxle attribute (right).

  3. Optional: You can use AI tool to do that for you.

  4. Save.

6) Activate the channel

Toggle the channel Active so it can be processed.

7) Run the export

1. Click Process now.

2. When processing completes, download the generated Excel file from the channel’s output/history.

Troubleshooting

  • Some cells are blank → Check that the placeholder is mapped and that items actually have values for that attribute.

  • Unmapped placeholders warning → Map them or remove the placeholder from the template.

  • Processing failed → Open the channel’s error log to see the exact cause, fix, and re‑process.

FAQ (quick)

  • Can I change the template later?** Yes—upload a new version and re‑map if names changed.

  • Can I run it on just one item to test? Yes—use Single product or a tiny static selection first.

Limitations

  • Images and logos** are not supported in the template. If you need them, add them manually after export.

  • Languages are limited to EN, DE, FR, and IT at this stage.
